This is an archive of tiny rectangular paintings that draws together a lofty portrait of modern Lebanon. Paintings that acted for a certain period of time as an official envoy of Lebanon, traveling across borders carrying with themselves a carefully chosen manifestation from the land of the Cedars.
This is an archive of memories and great events. It is a collection of tiny official records - documents about the formation of modern Lebanon and milestones of building a modern state. It is an archive of history that does not dictate on you facts in a pre-drawn paths, but leaves it up to you to draw your own paths and deduce your conclusions. The French mandate, struggle for independence, the good old days of the early Seventies, the bitter years of civil war, and the resurrection, is all reflected here. The A.Absi Philatelic Archive of Lebanon is the first and only complete electronic archive about the stamps of Lebanon. It covers all the Lebanese stamps starting from 1924; including Postage or Regular issues, Airmail issues, Postage Due issues, Tax issues and miniature or souvenir sheets. The A.Absi Philatelic Archive of Lebanon houses an image for every stamp, a total of 1458 images grouped in 306 sets, and provides vital information about every stamp including number of stamps in every set, date of issue, printing method, designer, printer and perforation. It also provides, in addition to it's own new flexible and easy to remember identification numbers, catalog numbers of the three famous stamps catalogs: Yvert & Tellier of France, Stanley Gibbons of UK, and Scott of USA; thus serving as a cross reference between these different catalogs. In addition, notes of vital nature are added whenever it is necessary to illustrate certain ambiguity. The A.Absi Philatelic Archive of Lebanon includes an easy to follow PHILATELIC TIME LINE, that helps you locate any stamp easily, the PHILATELIC TIME LINE is composed of eight pages with hundreds of links. In addition there is the NEW PERSPECTIVE Tables, these are sixteen pages that group different sets in more than 77 categories.
